Pastor CarolPastor,  Carol Barriger

Our pastor is the Rev. Carol Barriger.  Born and raised in Washington, DC, she migrated to the Bay Area after college and never left.  Her long service in local church ministry was preceded by a career in information systems.  Island United Church is her sixth church in the Northern California Nevada Conference, UCC.  She has also served as an Associate Conference Minister, and teaches United Church of Christ polity at Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley.

Pastoral Intern
We were fortunate to have Lauren Hotchkiss as our pastoral intern for 2016-17.  To the right is a memory of our farewell blessing for Lauren.  We will be hoping for another wonderful field education student from Pacific School of Religion to be with us in the fall for more times of learning and serving as s/he prepares for ordained ministry.  We’ll see!!

AnnaMusic Director, Anna Khaydarova
We are most fortunate to have a classically trained musician as our Music Director.  Anna serves as our choir director during the school year (September through May) and also accompanies the choir, guest musicians and our hymn singing on Sunday mornings.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree with honors from Tashkent University, Uzbekistan and a Master’s Degree from Notre Dame de Namur University. She also provides music lessons to eager young students.

Preschool Director, Rita Enright
With a charming Irish lilt in her voice, Rita directs the priceless staff of our Montessori preschool. She has been the director since 2001, and has a degree in Leadership in Organizational Studies  from St. Mary’s College in Moraga in addition to Montessori training, and State of California CTC Child Development Site Supervisor Permit . To learn more about Rita and our school, please visit the website All Are Friends Montessori Preschool.

Church Council
Our Church Council is elected by the congregation and meets monthly to review our ministries and set forward direction.  All members are invited to attend Council meetings.
