Lent is almost upon us. Ash Wednesday is March 5. Some of us have expressed an interest in attending the service at the Congregational Church of San Mateo. The information obtained from their enews is that it will be a service of music and reflection that begins in the Sanctuary and concludes in the memorial garden near the labyrinth. “This will be an introspective, meaningful ritual to prepare us for spiritual deepening during lent”. The service starts at 7:00 p.m. All who are interested in attending may join us in front of IUC at 6:30 p.m. to form carpools to San Mateo.
The Annual Gathering of the Northern California Nevada Conference United Church of Christ will be held May 1 – 4, 2014. The meetings will be at the Sofitel Hotel in Redwood City as in the past. The theme is Life Giving Waters. One must register to attend any part of the Annual Gathering except the Sunday morning worship service. Registration forms are available in the church office. Adults over age 30: single day $90.00, full event $175 (without meals). We have some scholarship funds available.
We are pleased to have the Rev. Al Williams be our guest minister for the first two Sundays in March. We appreciated his being with us and his meaningful sermons when he was our guest minister in the past.
